A twill weave makes denim hard wearing suitable for jackets, trousers, dresses and tunics. Choose plain styles, machine topstich the seams and use metal zips and studs for detail as it tends to be quite a stiff fabric it will soften with wear.
This fabric needs to be pre washed before cutting out as the colour will bleed and it will shrink slightly, it is best to wash twice to ensure all shrinkage has taken place and remove whilst still damp to iron to prevent crease lines from forming. When cutting out it must be treated as fabric "with nap". Tip...to prevent skipped stitches hold the fabric taut and use a denim needle, if top stitching a 90 or 100 needle is recommended, stitch length 2.5-3mm for seams, 3.5 for topstitching, Sew the hem from the right side. If using a denim with stretch press on a strip of non stretch interfacing so the hem does not stretch as it is topstitched.
